The newly founded Faayo Community Heart Health Initiative patient organisation in Uganda has been making use of Reach’s Community Awareness Flipchart in their community education activities on rheumatic heart disease (RHD) prevention and control.

In August and September 2022, events were held at schools across Hoima District where Katusiime Christine, founding member and well-known RHD patient advocate, used the Community Awareness Flipchart to educate approximately 120 teachers and learners about strep throat, rheumatic fever, and RHD. Hardcopies of the flipchart were given to schoolteachers for ongoing dissemination.

The Flipchart was also distributed and used as an educational tool at a community outreach event in September 2022 at the Kids Support Centre, a community-based organisation in Bujumburu Hill, Hoima District, This was a large event with 88 participants.
